Weight Training for Osteoporosis

If you are concerned about bone density or have been diagnosed with Osteopenia or Osteoporosis, you can still positively influence the health of your bones. This class is designed to get you started on a simple and effective bone strengthening workout. With guidance and close supervision to maintain safe and proper form, you will focus on 4 exercises: Squats, Deadlifts, Overhead Presses, and body weight jumps. The workout is 5 sets of 5 repetitions of each exercise. We will start slow with light weights or just body weight so you can feel comfortable with the muscle memory you need for lifting. I will also help you learn when and how to increase your weight safely so you can continue making progress.
Classes will be held in the Club West Weight Room, no membership is needed for the duration of the class, but the goal is to make this workout part of your weekly routine.
